Exploring the classrooms and resources
We have been exploring the different resources in our learning environments to produce a wide variety of creations.
We have been using: paint, pens, pencils, crayons, glitter, glue, scissors, cork boards, beads and strings and a variety of paper.

Portraits
We each created our own portrait to display in our classrooms.
DM - Draw with increasing complexity and detail. Use a comfortable grip with good control when holding pens and pencils. Show a preference for a dominant hand. Develop their small motor skills so that they can use a range of tools competently, safely and confidently.
Singing
We have been demonstrating our knowledge of nursery rhymes and we have been learning new songs and actions too.

Musical Instruments
We have been exploring the musical instruments and stage in our outside area, to perform to our peers and adults within the school.

Junk Modelling
We really enjoyed the freedom of being able to use the resources to make whatever we wanted, exploring different ways of joining the materials together. We used the scissors, glue and tape.

Autumn Crafts
While exploring the Autumn season, we used this as inspiration for different art activities.

Module 2
Bonfire Night inspired creations.
We were inspired by bonfire night and used a range of media to create bonfire night art work.

Poppies
We found out about Vincent Van Gogh and his art work based on poppies. We used this as inspiration for our own poppy paintings. We also used a range of media to create poppies.

The Loch Ness Monster
St Andrew's Day
On the 30th November, St Andrew's Day is celebrated in Scotland. We found out where Scotland is and the story of St Andrew and how he became the patron saint of Scotland. We explored the scottish traditions around St Andrew's day and created our own Scottish Flags. We enjoyed traditional scottish shortbread biscuits and porridge!

Exploring colour mixing.
We really enjoyed using the whisks to make foam, we were then extended to explore colour mixing by adding food colouring and see which combinations we could make to create new colours!

Building blocks
This module, we were challenged to create different buildings and structures using the blocks and other loose parts. We have begun to add more detail to our structures. We are allowed to take photos of our creations.

We have explored a range of different media to create a range of Christmas crafts as individuals or as part of a collaborative piece of work.

Watercolours
We explored water colour paints and how to use them. We used them to create folk trees inspired by this picture. Using the water we made different marks and blended colours to create our own versions. We also used the water colours to create other pictures.

Christmas Nativity
We performed beautifully in our Christmas Nativity. Although it was a bit daunting - we did AMAZING!

Retelling Stories
We are enjoying reading and sharing familiar and less familiar tradional stories. Using puppets and props we have retold the stories using familiar language.

After exploring the story of The Magic Porridge Pot, we retold the story as a class, then acted out the different scenes in small groups.

The Emperor's New Clothes
We used the story as inspiration for our own clothing designs. We added different media to make our own clothes for the Emperor.

Making Music.
We have expressed the different stories though song and music. We practiced the singing before adding percussion instruments.

Junk Model Castles.
The Emperor lived in a castle. We used junk modelling and a range of equipment and resources to make our own castles. We made sure we included many of the castle features.

Stay and Learn - Bumblebee Class
Our stay and learn this module directly linked to our inquiry into traditional tales. We used the story The Emperor's New Clothes to insiper our session in which we used Binca and sewing needles to create our own clothes for the Emperor.
Chinese New Year
As part of our inquiry into Chinese New Year, we re-created some dragon dances. We watched videos and used them as inspiration for our own dances. We have experienced a range of activities based on our learning about Chinese New Year.

We took part in a story drama session called Sybil the Cygnet. We got to dress up and act out the story read by the Leeds Castle storyteller.

Module 4
Exploring the new building blocks
We have really enjoyed the different bricks we have in class. We have created lots of different structures and added loose parts.

Using the outside area
We have developed our use of the building materials outside and have become more creative with our use of the large bricks and blocks. We have made castles, mario carts, robots and lots of other creations!

Observational art
We have developeed our observational skills in drawing and painting living things. We have looked carefully at the form, shape and colours needed to represent what we can actually see and not just what we think it looks like. We have used a range of media including paint, pencils and oil pastels.
