In February our library circulated 201 physical books. Our Sora statistics were very impressive. Our shared digital collection with the middle school library saw the following usage in February:
e-books: 770 checkouts
Audiobooks: 161 checkouts
Magazines: 52 checkouts
March is Women's History Month. Dr. Griffiths organized brilliant displays of books written by prominent women authors. The displays contain a variety of books from our diverse collection. "Polaroid" photos of authors can also be found on the display at the entrance to the media center. You can put a face to the name of your favorite authors. Encourage your students to check out these amazing books.
Mr. Robitaille has been working with numerous classes to integrate the powerful presentation tool, Keynote, into lessons. Keynote is integrated into the iPads and provides users with the ability to generate brilliant multimedia presentations, which can include custom animations.
Mr. Robitaille demonstrated Keynote to Mrs. Palmieri's physics classes, as well as Ms. Quinn's science classes and AP Lang with Mrs. Chiwaki and Mrs. Von Ville. Students were able to use Keynote to creatively demonstrate physical and social concepts.
The presentation possibilities of Keynote are extremely impressive, especially when compared to Google Slides. Please reach out to Mr. Robitaille to see a demonstration of Keynote and determine if this app can help your students create an amazing project.
You might notice a fluffy visitor roaming the halls at HHS. Mr. Robitaille has organized to have Penny the therapy dog visit the high school at least once per month to provide cuddles to our students. Penny was trained through Sit Means Sit in Copley and is a part of the K9 Caring Angels Therapy Dog Program. Penny's owner, Lori Baylor, brings her fur baby to various locations throughout the school and invites students to take a snuggle break. If you see Penny, please dive in for a free hug!
Ideastream Public Media offers an amazing online platform called PBS LearningMedia, which is chock full of seriously amazing instructional resources. These resources include lesson plans, articles, videos, media galleries, audio, and interactive lessons.
PBS LearningMedia can be filtered by subject, grade level, and resource type. You can see the Ohio learning standards and Common Core standards for each resource. Teachers can assign the resources to Google Classroom instantly by clicking the icon.
Click the "sign in with Google" icon to begin browsing, saving, and assigning these high-quality resources.
It's the time of year that Mr. Robitaille needs to finalize orders for books and media. If you have any requests for resources, please reach out by the end of the month.
