Teacher Websites
All teachers in the Hubbard Schools (K-12) have websites set up to help you understand what is happening in class daily. They also have their contact information available on the website. Please visit their websites on a regular basis throughout the school year. Web pages are easy to find, select the school, then click on "Menu". Once the Menu opens, click on "Teachers & Staff".

Families, schools, and other community members all have a role to play in helping adolescent learners understand, pronounce, and write new words. But which words are more commonly used in academic settings? The EAP Foundation website provides a list of the top 500 academic words used.
Schools should be routinely supporting vocabulary development in all classes. Parents/caregivers can ask their student or the school about how the school is planning to do that in a particular class or over the course of a year. In addition, families could make it a routine to build vocabulary skills at home together in a fun and multi-faceted way. For example, a family could make it a daily or weekly practice to look a word up online or in a dictionary. Or families could make up sentence together using an academic word, then write the sentence down or draw a picture representing the word and what it means to them.

More students now qualify to receive $1,000 for before- and after-school Afterschool activities
The Ohio Department of Education is pleased to announce changes to the Afterschool Child Enrichment (ACE) educational savings account program. Passed in December 2022, House Bill 45 of the 134th General Assembly expanded access and increased grant amounts for qualifying Ohio students and families.
Beginning April 7, qualifying families can receive a $1,000 credit per child for enrichment and educational activities afterschool during the 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 school years. Allowable activities include before- or after-school educational programs, day camps, music lessons, tutoring, and more.
Expanded eligibility includes children ages 6-18 whose family income is at or less than 400% of the Federal Poverty Level, who participate in income-based programs such as Medicaid, SNAP, and Ohio Works First, or who reside in districts identified as experiencing high rates of chronic absenteeism or include EdChoice-eligible schools.
"The changes to the Ohio ACE program provide more students access to educational activities outside of the traditional classroom," Interim Superintendent of Public Instruction Dr. Stephanie Siddens said. "The ACE Marketplace helps parents extend and enrich learning opportunities and broaden experiences for their children."
Administered by the Ohio Department of Education and Merit International, Inc., the ACE program provides access to educational activities to students who experienced learning disruptions during the COVID-19 pandemic.
