Mother Tongue Language Fortnight Programme
The Mother Tongue Language (MTL) Fortnight Programme aims to provide meaningful opportunities for students to deepen their learning of their Mother Tongue Language while gaining a stronger understanding and appreciation of their cultural heritage through active participation and engaging activities. As part of the programme, students enthusiastically took part in traditional activities such as cultural dance and palm leaf craftwork, allowing them to experience and appreciate their heritage in a fun and hands-on way.
Deepavali Celebration
On Monday, 3 November, our school joyfully celebrated Deepavali in collaboration with the Art Department. We were honored to welcome guest artist Mrs. Vijaya Mohan, a renowned Rangoli artiste who holds a Guinness World Record for creating the largest Rangoli in the world, along with 29 Singapore Records across categories such as the largest, longest, and most participants. She conducted a captivating live Rangoli demonstration, with our Primary 5 and 6 Art Ambassadors joining her to complete the intricate design, which was streamed live for the entire school to enjoy. Adding to the festive atmosphere, our Primary 6 students delivered a lively cultural dance performance that reflected the joy and vibrancy of the occasion. Meanwhile, Primary 1 to Primary 4 students took part in engaging hands-on recess activities, creating and coloring their own Rangoli patterns, with the support of our dedicated parent volunteers. It was a meaningful and colorful celebration that fostered cultural appreciation and strengthened our school community through the beauty of art.
Learning Journeys
Primary 2 students embarked on an enriching Learning Journey to the Singapore Zoo to enhance their Tamil language learning experience. During the trip, they explored various animal exhibits and expanded their Tamil vocabulary through real-life observations and guided activities.
Following the visit, students applied their learning through engaging show-and-tell sessions in the classroom. They confidently shared their experiences, described animals in Tamil, and expressed their thoughts using newly acquired vocabulary. This meaningful post-activity reinforced their language skills while building their confidence in spoken Tamil.
Competition & External Programmes
The school provides students with regular opportunities to participate in competitions, enabling them to challenge themselves, gain valuable exposure, and apply their learning beyond the classroom setting.
