Leah Alfaro-Vega holds an Associate’s in Business Administration from Warren County Community College and a Bachelor’s in Business Education from Rider University. Before staring in the Hillsborough Township Public Schools, Mrs. Alfaro-Vega completed an internship, student teaching placement, and two years of teaching at Lawrence High School in Lawrence, NJ.Then, While earning their degrees, Mrs. Alfaro-Vega gained valuable real-world experience while working as a restaurant server and manager, along with roles such as coffee shop barista, manager, and recruiter for different businesses. These experiences truly enhanced their learning of business topics and allowed for the application of their knowledge to practice early on. In their free time, Mrs. Alfaro-Vega enjoys spending time with their husband and our two cats, reading books, and creating jewelry. Mrs. Alffaro-Vega's favorite TV show is One Piece and they are a HUGE Star Wars fan!
Mr. Carty graduated from the College of William and Mary in 2001 with a degree in Finance. He began teaching at the Paterson Sports Business Academy and later taught at Bound Brook High School. In 2011, Mr. Carty came to Hillsborough High School to teach in the Information and Communication Technology Department and as also act as Head Football Coach. At Hillsborough, Mr. Carty teaches Financial Literacy, Law, Business Presentations, and Web Page Design. He has a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Seton Hall University. Mr. Carty has served as President of the New Jersey State Football Coaches Association and is currently the President of the New Jersey Scholastic Coaches Association. He enjoys spending time outside of school with his wife and two children.
Mr. Clark graduated from SUNY Oswego in 1996 with a BS in Business Administration and a minor in Economics. While working in the technology and banking industries for companies including AT&T, SAP, and JPMorgan Chase, he earned his MBA from Drexel University in 2008. In 2013 he completed the NJ Alternate Route teaching program and began his second career at Dumont High School as a Business Education teacher. He taught Financial Literacy, Business Law, and Marketing classes for 10 years and in 2019 he earned his MA in Educational Leadership from Montclair State University. In September 2023 he transferred districts to be closer to home and became a member of the Hillsborough High School Business Education department.
Mr. Clark resides in Whitehouse Station with his wife. When he is not teaching, he enjoys spending time with friends and family. He loves to travel the world and he and his wife are fitness enthusiasts. He is also an avid soccer (Liverpool Football Club) and NFL fan.
Paul A. Goldstein has been a Business Education teacher at Hillsborough High School ("HHS") since August 2017 teaching the subjects of Accounting, Business Organization & Management (Entrepreneurship) and Financial Literacy. He successfully completed the two year, 400 hour, Career and Technical Education Certificate of Eligibility Educator Preparation Program ("CTE CE EPP") in the State of New Jersey and received both his NJ and National Teaching Certifications in August 2019. Paul is a 1987 graduate of Binghamton University in Vestal, NY with a BS degree in Accounting. In 1989 Paul became a Certified Public Accountant in the State of New York. From 1992 through 2004 Paul worked for a Bio-Pharmaceutical Company dedicated to discovering and commercializing novel medicines to treat various cancers. The next career transition saw Paul become the Founder and Managing Member of Gold Financial, L.L.C., a small business focused on providing small businesses, families and individuals with assistance in cash flow projections and analysis, budget preparation and business planning. Paul is the proud father of 4 children. Two of his children have graduated from HHS (classes of 2011 and 2015) and the other two are part of the HHS class of 2020. Paul is an avid golfer, has coached sports in and around Hillsborough for 18 years and has enjoyed being an unpaid, unofficial Uber driver for all his children!
Khadija T Niang is a dedicated and experienced business educator with a passion for empowering students with practical business skills and financial literacy. Ms. Niang has a bachelor's degree in human sciences from Springfield College, an MBA in business management from the Metropolitan College of New York, and has started a master's degree in education focusing on pedagogy at Rutgers University. With over 20 years of corporate experience in addition to her education, she brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her teaching practice.
Ms. Niang has a rich background in education and entrepreneurship. She previously owned and operated the Smart Start Learning Center, a licensed five-star after-school program with locations in New York, Delaware, and Florida. Under her leadership, the center partnered with several esteemed after-school programs, including the Boys and Girls Club, expanding its influence along the East Coast. Her innovative teaching methods and ability to connect with students on a personal level have been recognized throughout her career.
Ms. Niang is excited to bring her experience and dedication to Hillsborough High School where she looks forward to fostering a positive and engaging learning environment. Outside of her professional life, Ms. Niang is an active member of her community, having served on the Board of Directors for the NAACP of Hunterdon County, the Board of Education for Tewksbury Schools, and the Girl Scouts Heart of New Jersey. Ms. Niang also enjoys real estate investing. Her hobbies include practicing yoga, reading, watching classical movies, and spending quality time with her family. Ms. Niang is also a proud mother and wife. She has three wonderful children: Sokhna, who attends Boston University; Awa, who attends Rutgers University; and Masyla, who is going into the second grade. Her amazing husband, a chemical engineer, provides unwavering support in all her endeavors. The family resides in Tewksbury Township
