I Own an Instrument

I own an instrument already, can I use it?

Probably, but here a few things you'll need to check into to make sure you come to school with an instrument meant for success:

• If it is a string instrument, it must be the right size in order for you to hold it correctly and reach all of the strings.  Violin, violin, cello, and bass come in 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, and 4/4 sizes.  If you have one at home, bring it to a music store this summer.  The music store can help measure your arm and take a look to see if you have the right size.

• Instruments dry out causing parts to stick, rot, or even grow mold.  Any instrument you own should be brought to a local music store to be thoroughly checked to ensure all parts are in excellent working condition before your child's first lesson.

• You will also need to purchase the supplies that are needed for the instrument you own.  Please see the list of supplies below.

Quality makes a difference!

Instruments need to be in top playing condition.  Students get disappointed quickly when they come to their beginning lesson(s) and their instrument doesn't work correctly, so please make sure it is ready to play or consider using one of our rental vendors to get a high quality instrument.
