Abstract: The research gap comes from the lack of research connecting episodic memory and musical memory. So far research in this field has focused on how other forms of sensory memory relate to episodic, but there is no research on music and episodic memory. The 21 participants in this study included Hampton High School students ages ranging from 14 to 18. This study used quasi experimental research to test two variables, music and memory. The experiment used the CLVT-III to test the memory of two groups. Both groups listened to music while studying, but one group listened to music while testing and the other did not. The scores and averages from the CVLT-III were taken to analysis. The averages of both groups had no significant difference, so the results of this study show music had no effect on episodic memory recall. This new information fills that gap in previous research on sensory memory and episodic memory, giving new insight into how music affects memory. This could help students to better prepare for tests in the future.
