Google Suite privacy and Security

The Hillsboro School District is using GSuite for our Supplemental Learning platform. Google takes security seriously, with industry-leading safeguards and privacy policies. G Suite for Education and Chromebooks meets security standards that are in compliance with: FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act), The Software & Information Industry Association, COPPA (Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998), Student Privacy Pledge introduced by the Future of Privacy Forum (FPF) and ISO/IEC 27018:2014 (Data standards). participation in online Meetings

HSD teachers are using Google Meet online video conferencing system to deliver learning. Participation of your student in online video meetings is strongly encouraged. Due to the nature of the work being done, students may choose to participate without video or use audio only.

Recommendations while participating in online videos:

  1. Check your surroundings that will be included in the background of the video. Make sure there are not private or inappropriate items on display in the video.

  2. Have a quiet area to participate

  3. Mute your microphone while you are not talking

  4. If requested, use the chat feature to ask questions

  5. Turn off camera if uncomfortable

HSD Privacy policies and Ferpa

Hillsboro School District is committed to protecting student privacy. The HSD Privacy Policies and information concerning the protection of student educational records and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) can be found in policy IGBAB and related Administrative Regulations (IGBAB-AR) . The district yearly required FERPA notification comes inside of the Standards of Student Conduct pamphlet that is mailed to all homes at the start of the school year along with notifications in other publications. The Standards of Student Conduct pamphlet can be be found here.
