HSD uses Securly to provide Internet filtering on student accounts that are used to login to Chromebooks. Visibility into student activity is provided through the Securly Home app to parents/guardians. For information and frequently asked questions please review the information below. For more information about how HSD filtering works, see HSD Chromebook Filtering page.
You will receive an email from noreply@securly.com titled "Welcome to Securly." Once you have downloaded the app, press on Get Started. Click the Sign In button.
The system typically displays online activity within ten minutes.
You will be able to view the past 90 days.
Under Rules, select the Sites tab. This will allow you to block a specific website. To block or allow categories of sites, visit the Categories tab and slide categories on or off. Certain categories are locked and unable to be permitted on student devices. The additional allowing/blocking only works outside of school hours.
If you cannot see your child in the Securly Home App, contact your child's school and make sure they have your correct email address on file.
Within the Securly app, select the pause button at the bottom of the screen. Slide the toggle on for the child or children you want to pause internet for.
You can also create a schedule by tapping the Schedules button at the bottom of the screen. Give the schedule a name and configure the dates and times you would like to restrict access to the internet. Ensure the "Enable Schedule" slider is turned on. These features only work outside of school hours.
Please send an email to homesupport@securly.com to get assistance.
Once you have registered for Securly using the email on file in Synergy, you will automatically start receiving weekly reports. It may be up to a week before you see your first one. Emails only send when your student has generated internet activity.
Reports will begin arriving within a week of toggling them on, typically arriving at the end of the week.
Weekly parent reports will contain a snapshot of your child's internet activity. It will show a sample of the searches performed, research done, sites visited, and videos watched. It is meant to be an overview. Full details can be access in the Home app.
The reports are only sent if the student has been active on a Securly monitored device. If there is no usage, no report will be sent. If you are certain your student was active, please email techhelp@hsd.k12.or.us. Include your student and the email address at which you expect to receive reports.
Click the link within the weekly report to unsubscribe.
