Dear Parents/Guardians,
What an incredible year we have had at BMS! We are incredibly proud of the academic and social growth of our students this school year! With testing behind us, the end of the school year is quickly approaching! Please make sure to dive deep into this newsletter as there will be a lot of end of year information.
We are so excited to celebrate all of our Golden SOAR Ticket Winners (Click here). Each of these students earned 25 SOAR tickets to be used at the SOAR store and will be invited to a pizza luncheon next week.
Remember, our dedicated staff is here to support your child's success. Please don't hesitate to reach out to your child's teachers, administrators, or counselors with any questions you may have. We look forward to an amazing spring with you and your children.
Sincerely,
Ryan Crete
Principal, Baldwin Street Middle School

Lunch: Included in the trip cost.
Please note that Michigan Adventures is all CASHLESS in the park. Season passes cannot be honored for this field trip.
There is financial assistance available for this trip as we would love for all students to participate. Please reach out to Mr. Crete at rcrete@hpseagles.net to request assistance.
Discipline Reminder:
Please help us remind the students that these trips are a privilege to celebrate the end of the school year. We want to ensure that we have an opportunity to celebrate all kids. However, if there are major behavior incidents that result in suspension, students may lose the privilege of attending the trip. If a child is removed from the trip, they will be asked to work in the media center for the duration of the field trip and parents will receive a refund.
If there are any behavior issues on the trip, parents may be contacted to come and pick up their students from Michigan Adventures.

On the last day of school, students will have time during the school day for yearbook signing with their peers. If you have not ordered a yearbook or want to verify if you purchased a yearbook, please contact Geskus Photography, Inc at (616) 453-4170. We will have a limited number of yearbooks available for purchase in the main office on Thursday, June 5 but there will not be enough for everyone. Yearbooks will be $10 cash or check payable to HPS. Please have exact change!
During the final week of school, the district will collect Chromebooks from all eighth-grade students. This collection is being organized now because these students will receive updated devices at the high school this coming August; collecting the old hardware in advance ensures a more efficient distribution process for the new devices.
If you have a student that would make good use of their Chromebook during the summer you can opt in to have them take their Chromebook home with them. Please fill out this form in order to facilitate the process. If they take it home, they will be expected to return it (and the charger) in good condition at freshman orientation in August in order to receive a new Chromebook.
Students in seventh grade will continue to keep their Chromebooks during the summer as they will bring them back to school in August.
SOAR Store and Prizes
I want to say a sincere thanks for everyone who has donated items to our SOAR store throughout this school year.! Our SOAR store has been a hit (ask your students about it). Without your support, we could never have done it. Be on the lookout for opportunities to donate for next year!
Please see this incredible article shared with me by the President of the MSBOA (Michigan Schools Band and Orchestra Association) District 10.
I am excited to announce that Mrs. Becky Bush was selected for the 2026 District 10 MSBOA Teacher of the Year Award for Orchestra. Mrs. Bush has been an active MSBOA member for years and is a well respected and admired member of our organization. To list just a few of her many accomplishments, she has directed string camps and clinics at schools across the state, presented at state and national music education conferences, and has co-published a method book for strings with her father and her sister. Mrs. Bush also serves as a mentor and example of professionalism to many of her orchestra and band colleagues throughout District 10 and across the state in MSBOA.
As you may not know, she was the founding teacher of the Hudsonville Orchestra program, currently celebrating its 25th year of excellence!
Mrs. Bush displays exceptional musicianship and pedagogy of the highest caliber. She has proven to be a fine music educator by providing outstanding teaching to the students in Hudsonville Public Schools and many hours of service to MSBOA at events including Band and Orchestra Festival and Solo and Ensemble. We are thrilled to honor Mrs. Bush with this award.
In addition to being honored with our District 10 award, we will be passing her name forward to the State MSBOA office for consideration for the state-wide teacher of the year honor. At the State level, three District Teacher of the Year candidates from the entire state will be selected for the MSBOA members to vote on this fall. If selected, this award would be presented at the 2027 Michigan Music Conference.
Parents,
As we get into our final weeks of the spring season, it is time to start looking towards next year and our fall sport offerings. The sports offered for next fall at BMS are:
Girl's Volleyball
Co-ed Cross Country
Football
Boy's Tennis
Boy's Soccer
We will be emailing out a Google Doc for sign-ups just like we have in the past. We email these directly to the parents whose email addresses we have on file here at school. There will also be payment information, the athletic code of conduct, and submitting physical forms. A new physical (dated after April 15, 2026) must be on file with us by the start of the fall sport seasons and that physical is good through the school year. This email will only be for fall sports. All winter 1, winter 2, and spring sport sign-ups will be emailed a few weeks before each start date.
