Greetings, Baldwin Street Middle School Families and Community!
We have passed the mid-year point for the 2025-2026 school year! With that comes an opportunity to celebrate some of the amazing growth that our students have made academically. This school year our building staff have been focusing on students reading and comprehension of non-fiction text. The goal was for 75% of students to reach mastery by the end of the year. The graphic below shows our progress on this goal with two quarters remaining. I have also provided a bookmark that our teachers have been utilizing to teach and reinforce reading comprehension skills. I want to thank our teachers for providing research-based reading strategies across all content areas and for their collaboration on enhancing this skill for our students! We are grateful to our students for their hardwork and perserverance. Although there is still work to be done, we are on a great trajectory and our staff is committed to continuing to raise the bar in our classrooms. Our teachers will be further digging into this data to identify areas of focus for the remainder of the school year.
Final grades for Quarter 2 and Semester 1 have been finalized in PowerSchool. Please take some time with your student to review their academic progress. Please reach out to Mr. Crete, Mr. McDowell, or your child's counselor if you have any questions.
Please take a moment to check out our Q2 S.O.A.R Golden Ticket Winners and the teachers that nominated them! We are so proud of our students for how they care for one another and continue to make BMS a welcoming environment for all!
Thank you again for your continued support of your student and our school community. We are looking forward to continued growth for our students in semester 2! Please take time to review this newsletter for upcoming events and information.
Best regards,
Ryan Crete, Principal - Baldwin Street Middle School
