As the very literal center of the multiverse, Dominaria’s name translates to “Song of Dominia”, Dominia being the archaic name for the multiverse itself. The plane acts as the focal point of all known planes, and great events on Dominaria echo through the blind eternities onto others. Possibly because of this, or because of its unique planar signature, Dominaria seems to attract calamity, and has survived more apocalypses back-to-back than any other plane in memory, including the Phyrexian Invasion, Elder Dragon War, and the Time Rifts.
As the very first plane visited by Magic, Dominaria has been the location of more Magic the Gathering sets than any other. It is home to many notable characters known by new and old players alike, including Urza, Yawgmoth, Nicol Bolas, Liliana Vess, and Karn. As of the release of Dominaria in 2018, the first visit to the plane in a decade, the denizens of the world are only now beginning to mend their broken home while embracing its violent past. Cards here include a variety of types and visual identities far more varied than any other plane, nodding to the vast scale and history. Here you’ll see cards inspired by African Planes, Norse Battles, and the great Ice Age.
