How the Points System Works
The points system is quite simple, play games (+ some other things) and earn points, then you can spend those points on cards or accessories for Magic the Gathering. You don't need to win the game to earn points, but you will get more by doing so.
How to Earn Points
Doing certain tasks will earn you points, some can be earned multiple times per week, some can only be earned one time per term.
Weekly tasks:
Play a casual game with someone - 2
Win a casual game with someone - 2
Play a 3 or more player game - 5
Thanking your opponent after the game - 1
Trade your own cards with someone in the group - 5
Play a game with your own cards - 5
Once per term tasks:
Visit a MtG store in Auckland (Spellbound / Baydragon / Hobbymaster ...etc.), get a photo with the store owner (tell them its for the Howick College Card Club) - 20
Bring a new member along (and teach) them to play - 30
After you play a game at club, write down on paper your name + what you did,
and give it to Mr. Wu to add on the points tracking sheet after the club.
What to spend your Points on
These may change as time goes on, depending on availability and demand for certain rewards.
Rares from the folder are great for either improving your deck(s) with powerful cards, as rare cards usually have better effects than common and uncommon cards, and can also be for the people wanting to collect cool cards.
Random extra packs contain around 150 cards in them, with a range of different colour cards in them, and these are really good for building and enhancing constructed and commander decks, as they have mostly useful cards in them. The themed packs have around the same amount of cards in them, but are made around a theme or multiple themes; such as certain creature types, one colour or an archetype.
For the promo cards, some of them can be useful for enhancing your decks as they usually have good effects. Otherwise if you want cards with nice art they usually fit this too. They are ranked between tier 1-3 based on their value on the card market and how hard they were to get, with the most priciest tier 1 promo being worth $12USD.
