Introduction
This deck is part of the Two-Headed Giant Commander decks, these are designed to be played 2v2 or 3v3 in the Commander format, but can also be played 1v1.
Certain decks have certain themes, and will pair better with other decks, which decks work best have been listed below. These decks are on a higher skill level than most of the other decks in the club, with a lot of interacting mechanics. This can be overwhelming to learn and master but it is a whole lot of fun when you do.
The theme of the Villains box is Villains that have teamed up throughout the Multiverse to take down the heroes of the Realm. From Slivers to Phyrexians and Gods, there tactic is to empower each other and poison their way to victory. In a world teetering on the edge of chaos, the malevolent forces of the multiverse gather. Atraxa, the harbinger of Phyrexian perfection, leads an unholy crusade, seeking to spread her corrupted influence across the planes. Meanwhile, the Sliver Overlord, an ancient and cunning entity, awakens from its slumber, rallying its brood to assimilate all living creatures. These dark forces, along with ancient, malevolent gods, conspire to bring about the end of all that is good and just, plunging the world into an eternal darkness.
The Riptide Project recreated slivers after their extinction during the Apocalypse, but the Riptide wizards were unaware of the importance of the Sliver Queen and thus did not recreate her. In her absence the slivers went rampant and overran the Riptide island.
At the same time the Mirari was wreaking havoc all over Otaria. The magical waves it produced accelerated the slivers' growth, but also lured them onto the mainland since they confused its call with that of their deceased queen. The majority of the slivers were thus present during the battle at Averru and were killed in the magical explosion that created Karona. A small group of slivers survived however, and fused into the "ultimate manifestation of the hive mind", the Sliver Overlord.
What happened to the slivers afterwards is unknown, but it is generally believed that after Karona's death the Overlord was separated, and they once again lost their leadership.
Key Strategy
The key strategy for the deck is to win via overwhelming the opponent with multiple creatures, Slivers are well known as being quite tough and resilient, and they compound a lot of effects. A lot of the slivers, especially the older ones buff all the slivers in play, not just your own but your teammate and opponents (if they are also playing slivers). If left unchecked slivers will quickly run away with the game, as their effects stack up, and quickly become too big to handle.
Sliver Overlord is great as there are so many different slivers with different effects, and one of its abilities allows you to search your deck for any sliver card and put it into your hand. Doing this will allow you to set up the board for you and your teammate with the perfect slivers, such as ones that give you mana, make slivers bigger, make slivers unblockable or draw cards. Sliver Overlord has been one of the go-to sliver commanders for a very long time because of this and only gets better as time goes on and more good slivers come out.
Ideally you will want to be giving effects like flying, first strike, protection and unblockable, which is all possible with different slivers in the deck and from your teammate. Main things you want to look out for are cards that let you play from the top of the deck such as Realmwalker, and ones that draw you cards such as Synapse Sliver and Distant Melody, as you need to keep on putting creatures in play to keep up the pressure.
