SOAR Expectations:
Success: Encourage students to strive for academic and personal success through effort and achievement.
Ownership: Foster honesty, responsibility, and pride in their actions, belongings, and contributions to the school community.
Accountability: Hold students accountable for their behavior and ensure the safety of others throughout the school community.
Respect: Emphasize treating others with kindness, empathy, and consideration in all interactions.
Cardinal Cash System:
Earning Cardinal Cash: Students earn Cardinal Cash from staff members for demonstrating positive behavior aligned with SOAR expectations.
Collection: Students will turn in their Cardinal Cash to their classroom/homeroom teacher.
Reward System: After collecting 10 Cardinal Cash, teachers will place a token on their bingo board.
Bingo Board: Teachers already have tokens; students place them on their classroom bingo board as they earn them.
How it Works:
Incentives: Tokens on the bingo board can be accumulated to achieve milestones such as four corners, 5 in a row, or blackout.
Classroom Rewards: Each milestone earns the classroom a reward, contributing to a positive environment and reinforcing SOAR principles. Classrooms can decide on their rewards:
Positive Referrals and Celebrations:
Recognition: Students are recognized through positive referrals for showing outstanding behavior. Students receive a button and a positive referral, which will go home with them that day. The student will add to a school-wide positive referral celebration container.
Reward: When filled, the container triggers a school-wide celebration to recognize and reward the entire student body for their collective efforts.
Discipline Referral
If a student exhibits behavior that does not align with SOAR and restorative practices, and self-reflection is ineffective, a teacher may refer the student to an administrator. Parents will be contacted.
Suspension
Suspension from school is used as a LAST resort, as per the student code of conduct. The days suspended are to be considered excused absences, and work missed must be made up.
