Generate product or spatial design ideas using visual communication techniques in response to design influences
Your task is to design a bus shelter/seating area for outside Hornby High School.
You must generate design ideas for a spatial design inspired by two design influences including one from te ao Māori.
For example: Zaha Hadid was a Iraqi-British architect known for her futuristic and innovative designs. Her style featured bold, flowing shapes, often inspired by nature, and made dynamic, complex structures. Her main design style was Deconstructivist and futurism.
Generate Ideation
Now you have researched your chosen architect, you know their design style. Generate designs that are inspired by this person. Create paper sculptures, quick fire sketches, use blocks, sketch up, anything you want to get some forms on the page.
Mahinga kai can be interpreted as mahi (work) nga (the) kai (food). It refers to the food itself as well as the
area from which it is sourced. Mahinga kai was central to the economic and cultural wealth of the rūnanga.
Every bay in the Peninsula had a particular kai, which meant each rūnanga had a ‘mana kai’. This was food
that they were famous for.
