"Our project centers around a visit to a local hydroelectric dam, the Moore Dam, where we will conduct comprehensive research and gain hands-on insight into this renewable energy source. Through one on one interviews with our mentor, Craig Martin, a long time Construction manager and Civil Engineer with years of professional experience working with hydroelectric dams, we will unravel the intricate workings and engineering behind this source of sustainable energy.

After our research, we will construct a working miniaturized model of a hydroelectric dam. This model, complete with a functioning generator, will showcase the mechanics of how a radial gate spillway, identical to the Moore dam, controls the water level in the reservoir. We will also demonstrate how our generator will convert water flow into harnessable electricity. We will be connecting a small generator and powering a micro-circuit to demonstrate the capabilities of this power source and light the pathway towards a brighter, more sustainable future." - Student Application 2024

"For our Senior Project, we are restoring an old drum set, because as drummers, we have a deep passion for music and the band has been a giant part of our four amazing years at Hopkinton High. When we saw this old drum set, we instantly wanted to jump at the opportunity to fix it up and make it look and sound amazing again, leaving it for the students to play and maybe grow attached to drumming, as we did. I especially, have a dream to be in the music industry and make it big. I want to learn more about drum tech, so making a kit like this would be helpful for me as well as it being something I would love to leave to the future students and the amazing music program at HHS."
