The Amazing Shake Competition
What is the amazing shake?
The Amazing Shake first took place in Hopkins County Schools at James Madison Middle School during the 2018-2019 school year. Since then it has expanded at James Madison Middle School and is starting to take place in other schools. Browning Springs Middle School took part in The Amazing Shake for the first time during the 2021-2022 school year. We saw great results from this program and look forward to offering this program to our students during the 2022-2023 school year. The goal of The Amazing Shake is to expose Hopkins County students to high-pressure situations in which they must think quickly to complete a task while maintaining composure and using professional life and leadership skills The challenges students face directly correlate with expectations of behavior in the workplace. The students are judged by rubrics and given feedback to help them improve. Students who participate in the final round of competition, also have the opportunity to speak to various clubs, organizations, and businesses within our community throughout the year to highlight the impact and importance of this program within our schools. We look forward to offering this program to our students this school year.
2022- 2023 Competition Update
We are very excited to announce that we will be a part of the 5th Annual Amazing Shake competition in Hopkins county. Last year, Browning Springs joined James Madison for the first time and this year we are going bigger. This year we welcome South Hopkins to the mix as well. We are excited to see how these three middle schools work together and of course we hope that the winner comes from BSMS! Please see the information below about this year's Amazing Shake.
Sign up information
BSMS students will have the opportunity to sign up to participate in The Amazing Shake beginning Friday, February 3, 2023 and ending on Friday, February 10, 2023 at 11 AM. Family letters and necessary forms will be available in the front office. Students who wish to participate will need to have all forms completed and returned to the school by Friday, February 10, 2023 at 11AM. We will only be able to accept the first forty (40) students that complete all forms and return them to the school. If you have any questions, please reach out to the YSC.
Training
Students who compete in The Amazing Shake will have several different training sessions available to them to help them prepare for each competition. These sessions will be offered after school from 2:50 to 3:50 pm at Browning Springs in the Band Room. Below are the dates of the training sessions. As a reminder, transportation is not provided so students will need a ride home and must be picked up between 3:50 and 4:00 pm.

competition
Students will compete against other local middle school students at various locations during the month of March. Families are responsible for transporting their student to the competitions except for the first one. The first competition is during the school day and students take a school bus from their school to the Hopkins County Career and Technical School. Below are the competition dates.
