GT Programming
Once a student is identified as Gifted at Hope, during the development of the ALP, Gifted Facilitator, center staff, and the Site Coordinator will discuss any acceleration and course modification deemed necessary in order to appropriately encourage student strengths. A focus will be placed on going deeper vs. going faster but multiple strategies may be used depending on the needs of the student. The ALP will be finalized with year-long goals based on the student's identified area, as well as a required affective (social emotional) goal.
The student will additionally join the Google Classroom Cohort which will be divided into Middle and High School classes. The work in this course will focus on learning about what it means to be gifted and will address the affective goals through assignments designed to focus on the affective needs of our GT community.
Additionally, students will have access to meet with the Gifted Facilitator in order to create and plan independent study projects. Together, they will determine how the project might be assessed and create a timeline for completion. Utilizing a student-friendly planning template, the student and Gifted Facilitator will collaborate to create a plan and assessment for the student selected passion project.
Students will collaborate and turn in project pieces via their google classroom and individual meetings will be scheduled as appropriate throughout the process.
