Academic Leadership

Do you enjoy working with other students? Particularly those younger than you? Are you looking for ways to practice your leadership skills? If you have ever been interested in teaching or mentoring younger students, this is the perfect opportunity for you. There are many ways that you can support younger students, and help to prepare them to be successful in high school. For this year, we are looking to focus our support in two very important areas. It will be up to you to determine which of these you would prefer to lead. If you have any interest in working with students, then please fill out the interest form below.

Science

There are multiple science kits at our disposal. If you have a particular interest in a scientific area, or know of a unit that younger students are learning in their class, we can customize science experiments for their class. Some of the kits we have include:

  • Biology- ecosystems, populations
  • Geology
  • Physics- matter and energy

EL Literacy

One of the most beneficial ways you can spend your time with the younger students is reading. Helping students to build their vocabulary is one of the most helpful activities you can engage in with our elementary and middle school students.

At HOPE, we are very fortunate because we have many students who speak more than one language. Of course, when young students are learning two languages at the same time, it is best for them to have people they can count on for help and support.
