A placement year is one academic year spent in the workplace as part of an undergraduate academic course. Placement year students will successfully complete two years of study before spending year three of a four year course in the workplace (year three of a five year course for integrated masters). Upon completion of the placement year students will then return to university to complete their studies.
A Liverpool Hope placement year must consist of a minimum of 1200 hours of work (equivalent to nine months full-time). Students have from June – September the following year, a total of 15 months, in which to complete a placement year.
Hope students can complete up to two placements, with different employers to total the hours. Roles can be full-time or part-time, to fulfil 1200 hours.
A placement year offers each Hope student the opportunity to work in a role which is relevant to their interests and aspirations with the aim of creating positive graduate outcomes.
