Individual Volunteers
Individuals interested in joining us have several different roles and types of work to choose from. From working directly with clients to crunching numbers to helping manage the inventory that comes into our Center, there is something for everyone. You can even try different teams to see which suits you best.

The Client Care Team coordinates with referring case managers and clients.
The Communications Team creates and updates written and visual information.
The Donor Management team manages the furniture and home goods donation process.
The Finance Team supports the Home of Our Own Treasurer in maintaining accurate financial records.
The Fundraising Team works on fundraising efforts to support Home of Our Own.
The Grant Writing Team uses their writing skills to obtain funding through grants.
The Inventory Team manages donated items at our Center by organizing, cleaning, repairing and refinishing donated goods.
The IT Systems Team supports systems implementation and administration for Home Of Our Own systems.
The Transportation Team picks up items from donors and delivers furniture and household goods to our clients.
The Volunteer Coordinators Team recruits and onboards new volunteers and oversees volunteer activities at HOOO.

Group Volunteers
Group Volunteers
We welcome groups of up to 10 people to come into our center to assist with sorting, cleaning, refinishing and other tasks. Shifts are generally in two-hour blocks from 10am-12pm and 2pm-4pm weekdays. Onsite volunteers must be at least 18 years old.

Other Ways to Help
There are many meaningful ways for all ages to get involved. We appreciate the help from the community; together, we enhance clients' comfort, dignity, and quality of life.
Host a Collection Box: Collect much-needed items to support our clients who are transitioning into new housing in Howard County. We supply the box, signs and flyers. You supply the location. Send us an email at donationdrive@homeofourownhoward.org
Organize a Donation Drive: Rally your community to donate essential kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom goods. Encourage group members to "bring a new spatula" or "bring a new sheet set" to your next meeting or outing. Click below to find out which items are most needed and then email us to let us know about your drive!
Plan a Fundraiser: Use your creativity to raise funds that go directly toward purchasing essential items for local families.
Get Creative!: We love seeing the unique ideas our community brings to help make a difference in our clients' lives.
