We are 100% volunteer staffed and always have room for more individuals and groups.
Individuals interested in joining us have several different roles and types of work to choose from. From working directly with clients to crunching numbers to helping manage the inventory that comes into our Center, there is something for everyone. You can even try different roles to see which suits you best.

Client Care Team - works directly with clients to fulfill their furniture & goods needs through delivery
Community Partner Engagement Team - works with referring partners to keep them engaged and up to date on HOOO processes
Communications Team - manages and creates website content, social media, print and digital promotional materials, newsletters, media promotions
Community Engagement Team - manages event participation, speaking engagements, and relationship building among key constituencies
Fundraising Team - engages directly with community members and key organizations to increase the organization’s revenue to support its mission
Grant Writing Team – researches and applies for grants
Inventory Team - manages furniture & household goods at the Center
Donation In-kind Management Team - manages donations of furniture & goods from the community
Transportation Team - picks up furniture & goods from donors and delivers to clients
Volunteer Coordinators Team - recruits new volunteers, provide orientation, manages team assignments, manage group volunteers
Volunteer Engagement Team – builds volunteer community & engagement
Informational Technologies Team - manages IT systems, supports website functionality, CRM and Volunteer database tools
Finance & Accounting Team - manages the day-to-day financial operations
We welcome groups of up to 10 people to come into our center to assist with sorting, cleaning, refinishing and other tasks. Shifts are generally in two-hour blocks from 10am-12pm and 2pm-4pm weekdays. Onsite volunteers must be at least 18 years old.

There are many meaningful ways for all ages to get involved. We appreciate the help from the community; together, we enhance clients' comfort, dignity, and quality of life.
Host a Collection Box: Collect much-needed items to support our clients who are transitioning into new housing in Howard County. We supply the box, signs and flyers. You supply the location. Send us an email at donationdrive@homeofourownhoward.org
Organize a Donation Drive: Rally your community to donate essential kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom goods. Encourage group members to "bring a new spatula" or "bring a new sheet set" to your next meeting or outing.
