Home Of Our Own (HOOO) provides furniture and household goods to clients referred to us by supporting organizations. We solicit donations from the community and accept only those items that are in very good condition and worthy of a welcoming home.
HOOO is 100% volunteer run and is the only organization in Howard County providing this service at no cost to clients or referring organizations.
Help Make a Cozy Home
You can make the difference for a Howard County family. Your support this holiday season provides pillows, bedding and other home essentials to families to make a warm, cozy home. With your help, we can offer more than comfort—we can restore dignity and hope.
Every dollar we raise through this campaign goes to helping create safe, comfortable homes for HOOO families. Every contribution—big or small—can help change lives.
You can make a meaningful difference to the lives of our clients with your cash donation, gently used furniture and household goods, or new items. We pick up all donations within Howard County. Click the Donate button above to learn more!
We are 100% volunteer-run organization and rely on the talents of our wonderful volunteers to carry out our mission. Individual volunteers can choose to join one of our teams, and we can host groups from your organization. Please click the Volunteer button above to find out more.
We wouldn’t be able to do this work without our community partners. Together, we turn empty spaces into welcoming homes. Partner with us to help our clients thrive. Click the button above to request information about how you can support Home Of Our Own.
Shop for good! When you order through our Pampered Chef link, up to 15% of your purchase comes back to support families in our community.
All of our clients are referred to us by local supporting organizations to ensure clients are vetted and receiving other critical supportive services. If you need housing assistance and are unsure where to turn, please call Grassroots Crisis Intervention at 410-531-6677.
We are so grateful to live in a community that supports our work through donations of household goods and furniture as well as cash gifts. You make this possible!
Thank you Lutheran's Village at Miller's Grant!
Lutheran’s Village at Miller’s Grant selected Home of Our Own to feature in their October Open Hands Open Hearts community outreach program. The residents collected cash donations and items from our current wish list. And this year, four residents signed up to join the monthly Miller's Grant group volunteers who help HOOO with inventory work every month.
Betty Pearson and Margaret Alford from Home of Our Own joined an ice-cream social at the end of the month to give a little talk about HOOO and to celebrate the residents and their support of Home of Our Own.
Thank you Project Linus Howard County!
Project Linus's mission is to provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of new handmade blankets and afghans, lovingly created by volunteer “blanketeers.” The local Howard County chapter regularly donates handmade blankets to HOOO for our clients.
