Thank you Waverly Woods West - Lunch with a Purpose!
The members of the Waverly Woods West - Lunch with a Purpose select a nonprofit to support for their regular lunch gatherings. In Februrary, they chose HOOO. The members collected two vans full of home goods for our clients, supported us with generous cash donations and invited us to their lunch to talk about HOOO and the work we do to fill empty homes. Just look at the lovely centerpieces made out of the donated items! And for the nicest close to the afternoon, Lunch with a Purpose member Marci donated her raffle winnings to HOOO. Last month, the Medstar Health's Columbia offices adopted HOOO for their holiday giving drive. They sure did take their mission to heart by collecting a mountain of new items, gift cards and cash donations! A big thank you to the Howard County Million Dollar Club for their end-of-year donation to Home of Our Own last month. We greatly appreciate their continued support for our mission! Their gift will allow us to help families in need create functional, welcoming homes with new bed pillows, mattresses and bathroom essentials. We appreciate their efforts in helping to alleviate poverty in our county.

Thank you Columbia Maryland Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta!
Since January, our friends from the Columbia Maryland Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta have been volunteering regularly at Home of Our Own. Each group of up to 10 sisters comes to help work in the inventory area - cleaning household goods and furniture, packing items for delivery to clients, tidying up storage areas and more. We are so thankful for their time and meticulous, hard work.

Thank you Lutheran's Village at Miller's Grant!
Lutheran’s Village at Miller’s Grant selected Home of Our Own to feature in their October Open Hands Open Hearts community outreach program. The residents collected cash donations and items from our current wish list. And this year, four residents signed up to join the monthly Miller's Grant group volunteers who help HOOO with inventory work every month.
Betty Pearson and Margaret Alford from Home of Our Own joined an ice-cream social at the end of the month to give a little talk about HOOO and to celebrate the residents and their support of Home of Our Own.

Thank you Project Linus Howard County!
Project Linus's mission is to provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of new handmade blankets and afghans, lovingly created by volunteer “blanketeers.” The local Howard County chapter regularly donates handmade blankets to HOOO for our clients.
