Eight institutions of Catholic higher education in the United States are affiliated with the family of Holy Cross (priests, brothers, and sisters). Each has it's own distinct mission, independent board governance structure, and unique connection to Holy Cross. Affiliation with the Holy Cross Higher Education Network is more akin to a community of like-minded colleagues who share a common connection to advance the Holy Cross educational mission set out by our founder, Blessed Basil Moreau.
Today, there are 6 colleges and universities affiliated with the Congregation of Holy Cross Priests and Brothers (US Province, Midwest Province, and Moreau Province) in the United States today: University of Notre Dame (1842) in South Bend, IN; St. Edward’s University (1877) in Austin, TX; University of Portland (1901) in Portland, OR; King’s College (1946) in Wilkes-Barre, PA; Stonehill College (1948) in Easton, MA; and Holy Cross College (1966) in South Bend, IN.
In addition, the women of Holy Cross sponsor two institutions in the United States: Saint Mary’s College (1844) in South Bend, IN sponsored by the Sisters of the Holy Cross; and University of Holy Cross (1916) in New Orleans, LA sponsored by the Marianites of Holy Cross.
Faculty and staff leaders from all eight Holy Cross colleges and universities in the United States are eligible for affiliation with the Network.
