The Holy Cross Higher Education Network is a nation-wide collective of Higher Education institutions in the Holy Cross tradition of Catholic higher education. The Network aims to create a venue for colleagues serving at Holy Cross colleges and universities to share best practices, develop affinity across diverse institutions, and collaboratively address the most pressing needs of higher education. The Network’s success is expressed in our commitment to our shared mission rooted in the Catholic Holy Cross charism, spirituality, and tradition.
The network is organized and sponsored by the Office of Apostolic Mission & Charism of the Congregation of Holy Cross, United States Province of Priests and Brothers.
The mission of the Holy Cross Higher Education Network is to unite Holy Cross colleagues serving across our higher education apostolates. Holy Cross education is animated through a charism that calls us as educators in the faith to “bring about better times” by a constant response to the most pressing needs of the Church and society. We believe that a Catholic education in the Holy Cross tradition transforms minds and hearts with zeal in communities of hope.
The Network aims to serve as both a convener and a catalyst. Examples of how the Network will support Higher Education:
Resources related to mission integration
Sharing of best practices related to mission integration across the curriculum
Listservs specific to mission-integration functional areas/affinity group (i.e., campus ministry, residence life, student affairs, academic deans, athletics, finance/administrative, alumni affairs, etc.)
Promotion of campus events, programs, resources across campuses
Job board
Creating a colleague network across our eight institutions assists in fostering a sense of belonging by connecting Higher Education to each other, developing an awareness of one’s place in our shared mission, and creating new initiatives together to enliven the mission and charism on our home campuses. This network also aids in staff on-boarding, staff retention, and on-going professional development.
