My name is Andrei Koev, I'm a senior and I'm interested in how we can make aspects of our lives more energy efficient.
My name is Anthony Capela, I'm a senior and I want to make Holliston's energy cleaner and better for the environment.
My name is Carter Benoff, I'm a senior and I'm interested in making our world cleaner.
Our community as well as most others across the world face the problem of harnessing sustainable energy. We decided to address this issue by confronting the education aspect, as many people are simply not aware of the benefits of sustainable energy as well as how to actually make the switch. We chose the topic of sustainable energy as climate change is a major issue globally and using more sustainable energy sources can be a major help.
Here is our Sustainable Energy PSA
Our main goal for this course is to raise money to purchase and install a heat pump for Holliston High's Tiny House
To accomplish this goal we have created a GoFundMe for donations and we will be hosting a 3v3 Basketball Tournament on May 2 for students with a $5 per person entry fee
To promote our fundraiser and GoFundMe, we created an Instagram account @renewableholliston which contains educational posts about heat pumps as well as a link to the GoFundMe
As we continue with our project, we'll keep posting to our Instagram with more information on heat pumps as well as significant advertisement for our basketball tournament
We are partnered with Mr. Calais, a teacher in the science and tech department here at Holliston High.
One class Mr. Calais teaches is the Tiny House Project, which he and his students have been working on for several years now.
As the Tiny House approaches completion, one of the last pieces it needs is a source of energy. Rather than installing a traditional gas furnace which causes great harm to the environment, Mr. Calais wishes to purchase a much more energy-efficient heat pump for the home.
In our partnership, Mr. Calais has provided us with information on how heat pumps work and why they are better for the environment than furnaces as well as many other benefits. He also provided us with details of the costs of purchasing a heat pump and how the installation would work.
Thanks to the support and donation from SumZero Energy Systems here in Holliston, the Heat Pump for the Tiny House has been fully funded.
We raised over $300 on our GoFundMe! Thank you to everybody that contributed
