WHO ARE WE?:
We are students at Holliston High, who are looking to make a difference. Everyone has heard of domestic violence, but not everyone knows what it is or how to recognize it. We are here to raise awareness for the cause, as well as raise money for a local non-profit organization called New Hope Organization. We look to make a difference in the lives of domestic violence survivors and educate people along the way.

The Need: To raise awareness for victims that have experienced domestic abuse and to grow the knowledge of others. It is important to let victims know that they are not alone and there are people who are willing to learn about the problem and donate to causes that will make victims feel safer in their community.
The Problem: The problem is that there are way too many people experiencing violence, whether it is verbal, physical, or emotional. Many people stay in the dark and suffer for a long time. So many people are not educated and therefore cannot see the warning signs. We are taking a step to address this problem by hosting our bake sale. When we do our bake sale, we will make posters that inform people about the cause. We are also learning about the cause so if someone has any questions, we will be able to inform them as well.
New Hope Organization:
The organization we have chosen is NewHope, a domestic shelter organization that is looking to build a new shelter in Attleboro, MA. New Hope is looking to build a new shelter for domestic violence victims and create an office space for new learning opportunities as well as open up a direct sport for donations. They seek to help families and people find their full potential in a safe home and environment.
Partnership History:
NewHope has organizations all throughout Massachusetts. Their goal is to address and house the victims of domestic violence. The organization began in 1979 with just a small group of friends who believed that the problem needed to be addressed. They created their own hotline and within the first year, they were able to respond to over 500 phone calls from violence victims. From then on, they started opening up their own offices and shelters around the state. They now serve 41 communities in Massachusetts.

Fundraiser Ideas:
Holiday craft fair with Elementary School:
Our idea in this would be to ask for donations from the parents/guardians of the children participating in the event. We would bring paint, crayons, markers, glitter, stickers, and poster paper, as well as organized Holiday arts and crafts sets. It would be a couple of hours and all kids would be free to come and join. Our hope would be to raise some money that we could eventually donate to the Domestic Violence shelter in Attleboro.
Bake Sale:
Taking place on November 12th, at Roche Brothers in Millis.
We will be collecting money through donations.
The bake sale will be informative while also tasting good!
We will set this up in a highly populated area, with many, many treats for people to buy.
HOW CAN THE COMMUNITY HELP?
While it is important to donate to fundraisers and organizations, learning about domestic violence is crucial to making the change we all want to see. Although just knowing about what it is might not seem like a lot, with knowledge and awareness, it can help you notice when someone needs help. The more people who know about the cause, the more people can be helped and the safer the communities can be. If you feel learning about it is not enough, inform others of domestic violence so that they too can help the cause. And of course, raising money for charities and non-profit organizations is always a good way to help.
WHAT WE WANT TO ACCOMPLISH!
We want to raise money for a domestic shelter that is looking to build a shelter in Attleboro. Their goal is to reach 400,000 dollars and as of now, they have 11,000 dollars. Obviously, we will not be able to meet their goal, but by making our own, we will be able to inform the public and bring more awareness to the subject and hopefully inspire other students, adults, and many others to either host fundraisers as well or to make donations.
