Stacy Brown

Stacy Brown is a 1991 graduate of Hillsboro High School. He was a multi-sport athlete while competing for the Eagles. A two-year letterman in basketball and a three-year letterman in both football and track and field, Brown is the school record holder in both the triple and long jumps. He was a three-year selection as an All-District defensive back in football. Brown’s track and field success skyrocketed in 1991 when Brown set the school record in the triple jump at 45’ 6 ¾” as well as the long jump with a leap of 24’ 1 ½”. He was the Class 3A state runner-up in the long jump at the state track meet. Brown was also a member of the state qualifying 400 meter relay team (Jamil Garner, Bardrick Jones, and Ricky Harris) that set a school record with a 41.90.

Brown’s success landed him a spot on the track and field team at Odessa College. While at OC he finished fifth in the National Junior College Indoor Nationals and sixth in the Outdoor Nationals as a freshman. He jumped a career best 25’ 3” at the 1992 Abilene Christian University All-Comers Classic before transferring to ACU.

Brown enjoyed a fine career at Abilene Christian University as a three-year letterman in football (94, 95, 96) and track and field (93, 94, 95). He was an All-Lone Star Conference Honorable Mention defensive back in 1995 and 1996. Brown was also the recipient of the 1996-97 Jerry Wilson Defensive Back Endowment. Stacy placed second in the long jump at the NCAA Division II Outdoor and Indoor Meet in 1993. He was also selected as an All-American for Outdoor Track & Field and won the Kirk Goodwin Field Event Award in 1993.

The following year, Brown placed third in the long jump at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Meet with the team finishing in second place. Brown once again earned All-American Outdoor Track & Field honors for 1994. Placing fourth in the long jump at the 1994 NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Meet earned him another All-American Indoor Track & Field award. The team was honored as the 1994 NCAA Division II National Champion Team. Brown graduated from ACU in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology.
