In this project, students read 12 chapters from The Body by Bill Bryson, answered comprehension questions, and reflected on their experience by drafting and ultimately creating a final art piece to be displayed in our junior hall windows. We used my homemade creation of UV-resistant food dye, glue, and puff paint to create faux stained glass pieces that illuminate a current concept in human health and anatomy from the book. In addition to the piece, we studied anatomy, physiology, and health science to gain a deeper understanding of the topics. Each year, I also invite community health experts to speak in class.
Essential Question: In what ways can we increase interest and understanding in public health? What are the most pressing current problems and solutions in medicine?
