Art. What is it? What can we use it for? Well for years people have been using art as a form of speech to stand up for change they want to see. This semester, we’ve worked closely with various art forms and artist to create plays, poetry, music, and murals to show changes teenagers today are facing. We performed staged readings, wrote songs, and painted murals about the biggest critics teenagers today face, themselves. If you'd like to see our project, please click the title!
Did you know that 28% of Americans can't cook? Or that the majority of foods in the average teenagers diets are ultra processed? This semester, students learned all about the nutrition and health benefits of everyday foods, along with the complex history and chemical reactions going on during the cooking process. The final products include an educational podcast interviewing local leaders about food and health, along with hosting workshops for local middle schools to show them how much their food matters. Ah the great outdoors, there's so much to explore. Whether you go on a nice hike, or camp under the stars, we can all agree these create memories and experiences people don't forget. This semester students went on Epic Journeys to make new memories and have a fun project that connects us to the outdoors. These adventures were the inspiration for our final products that we showed at our spring exhibition. If you would like to see these products, click the title to learn more!
There is so much that we can’t see with the naked eye. Once you search for it, you can find so many fascinating aspects about our world, whether it be the characteristics that make us human, or hidden treasures of the outdoors. During this semester we searched to answer the question, “What is under the surface?” We took apart electronics, created portraits of people using mathematics, and we made a book surrounding various topics and their secrets.
