My first day went well. I met my mentor at the warehouse and got to know the workers. He then assigned me to his main plumber for the rest of the day. We picked up supplies and went to various job sites together. He shared a lot about how he started and how the company was formed. Since he has been there since the beginning, he talked about how they were all working for another guy who ended up scamming them, resulting in significant financial losses. After enough of this, my mentor got his contractor's license and employed the others. As for the main plumber, he was self-taught and learned through his struggles.
(I wish I could provide a more detailed response, but this is all I remember from that conversation to the best of my memory. He wasn't comfortable with a photo, so I included the one I took at Home Depot, where we picked up the supplies and he shared his story with me.)
During my first week of the internship, I didn't expect to be traveling a lot. Initially, I thought we would go to one job site and stay there, but instead, We ended up visiting three different houses, finishing at the main site. We made several back-and-forth trips to Home Depot to get the right equipment for each location. The first site was a random house with a clogged backyard drain pipe. We needed a special power washer, which we picked up from Home Depot. The second house had a clogged toilet, so he used a snake to clear it easily. Finally, we arrived at the main site, where my mentor's mother had a newly constructed house that needed its plumbing system set up. I concluded the day by digging a small trench for some pipes contributing to the company.
(I add the power washer tool that was rented and the the small trench that I made couldent take picture of the priviate propert )
