Roles and Responsibilities

My role and responsibilities, in short, were that I was both an assistant and a student. My job was to help to the best of my ability while learning as much as possible. I regularly asked questions and observed the processes, contributing where I could. My tasks primarily involved manual work, such as setting up pipes and installing protection. I also cleaned weekly, usually on Tuesdays or Wednesdays. Working with Dylan has been a challenge for both my body and mind, but it's worth it for the skills I’ve acquired.

Green Earth business card 

My project is a simple business card. Although it may seem minor, business cards are a crucial tool for promoting a business and providing information about its main area of expertise. I designed a straightforward card that includes essential details such as the owner's name, occupation, phone number, and email address. Additionally, it features a link to his website, which offers more information and photos that provide a better understanding of his services. Handing out these business cards to customers and locals can lead to recommendations. Overall, they are an effective way to promote your business, spread the word, and encourage people to reach out, ultimately bringing in more work.

Skills

During my internship, I used my existing communication and plumbing skills. Most of the new knowledge I gained was more about testing my abilities rather than gaining new skills. However, I did learn valuable information about proper setups. For example, I learned that pipes must consistently slope downward at an angle of 10 centimeters. Also, I discovered the importance of installing pipe insulation on hot water lines to reduce heat loss. Throughout the internship, I also relied on my communication skills. Engageing with my coworkers and superiors, asking questions, and ensuring that I was polite and respectful. This experience not only strengthened my manual abilities but also improved my communication skills.

Communication & Growth

Communication is always important when you’re entering an internship for the first time. In my case, my mentor did not read emails, which led him to believe that I could come in just twice a week, putting my at risk of failing the year. Fortunately, I was able to fix this issue quickly and discovered that communicating via text was more suitable for him. Communication is crucial when you’re learning something new or have questions. It's also important to keep in touch with your consort teacher. You can't blame your grade or mistakes on others if you know you need more time. If something isn't going well during your internship, communicate with them immediately. Remember, you will always be held responsible for your actions, so don’t try to wait it out. Through facing various problems and challenges during my internships, I believe I significantly improved my communication skills.
