Problem Annotation

Please choose a single problem that shows how you have developed a deeper understanding of a specific area in this past unit. This piece should demonstrate a level of understanding that will remain with you for a long time. For example, you might select a problem about which you feel very confident that you can defend your understanding to someone who is skeptical. Please complete the following:

First, rewrite this problem neatly, on a separate sheet of paper, making sure each step is clear and chronological. Leave room to annotate your work in a different color pen/pencil explaining your process and reasoning as it flows through each step. Consider these questions as you are annotating your own work:

• How did you know where to begin?
• How did you know what to do next?
• What justifications did you apply to this problem?

Second, please address the following prompts and questions separately from the problem annotation:

• Identify and explain the concept(s) from this unit that you feel you now have a deeper understanding of.
• Explain what it is that you think helped you to gain this deeper understanding.
• What questions do you still have about this specific area?
• What are you now curious or wondering about because of your deeper understanding of this specific area of mathematics?
