Canna-Parent Journal

Canna Journaling & Parenting

By; Ryan Wilcox

As I’ve been on my Experience Journey in this ever evolving world of cannabis there is one trend that stands out for parents seeking to balance personal wellness with family responsibilities: Cannabis Journaling. This introspective practice not only fosters mindful consumption but also paves the way for informed decision making.

Cannabis journaling is the act of documenting your personal experiences with the plant we love. This includes recording various details for example strain type, method of consumption and the ensuing effects. It doesn’t have to be just a clinical list, dive deeper capturing the nuances of flavours, smells, your emotional and physical response, similar to a wine aficionadostasting notes.

While cannabis journaling can benefit any consumer, parents in particular are leading the trend. The demanding role of a parent can include being alert, having patience and emotional availability. Parents who keep track of their consumption in a cannabis journal are doing so in a way that compliments their parental duties rather than hinder them. Whether they are consuming cannabis medicinally or recreationally, keeping a journal ensures that their consumption remains responsible, intentional and doesn’t interfere with being there for their family.

Writing it down can lead to informed choices. With countless strains and products on the market cannabis journaling is assisting parents in making informed intentional choices by pin pointing desired profiles and effects that resonate best for their needs. When parents put pen to paper in their journals they aregaining self awareness making sure they stay present mentally and emotionally for their family. Symptom relief is another benefit parents are keeping track with their journals. Stress and pain being number one symptom.

The best time to write in your journal is before or during consumption. Write in as much information about the product you have. I’ve noticed more and more licensed producers are including lineage,  cannabinoids and terpenes on the package which can be helpful. Later when your Experience is over or you feel in a mindful state fill in the rest of the journal like effects felts, mood, patience and stress levels reflecting on the overall experience.

Being a cannabis consumer before parenthood, I started writing down strain names I tried so I could remember all the different strains and if I liked them. Very quickly I discovered the different nuances in the flavour and smells of strains and started to document terpenes and effects felt. Flash forward being a parent of two kids today and looking back on what I’ve learnedhas definitely helped me be more present, patient and reduce stress since starting a journal.

For elevated parents navigating the vast world of cannabis, journaling is not just keeping a record. It’s a compass guiding them towards responsible and enriching experiences. In a time where self care is at the top of the list cannabis journaling can ensure that personal wellness never overshadows the joys and duties of parenthood.
