Global Goal 2, also known as Zero Hunger, is one of the seventeen United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The goal aims to end hunger, achieve food security, improve nutrition, and promote sustainable agriculture by 2030. It's a big goal, but an important one, and one that we can all help achieve in fun and creative ways. So, let's get started on our journey to Zero Hunger!

As part of our social studies topic this term, we are learning about foodbanks.
We are running a reverse advent calendar, where each day, someone brings in an item of food to donate to the foodbank.

We had a very creative morning today, using pomegranates as our stimulus! The class novel we are currently reading is called 'The Boy at the Back of the Class' by Onjali Q Rauf. The story is about a young boy who has come to London from Syria as a refugee. The pomegranate features in the story a lot as the boys' favourite fruit which reminds him of home.
We started with a writing task, with some excellent descriptive sentences. Next, pupils created still life drawings of the pomegranate and finally they got to taste it! Excellent work by all and a real buzz of excitement in class this morning.
Primary 6/7 have been working on persuasive writing and decided to take real action about a problem many of us are concerned about: speeding traffic outside our school. Here are a few examples of their excellent persuasive letters. We were very fortunate to be visited by Kate Forbes MSP, who came to collect her letters personally, and allowed pupils to ask questions and tell her about their concerns.
For art, the pupils have been learning about different techniques to add depth and realism to their pictures. For these sky paintings, the children used watercolours and were inspired by photographs taken in the local area of beautiful skyscapes and weather phenomena. This links in with our learning in Interdiscplinary Learning on extreme weather and natural disasters.
Here we are presenting our Significant Individuals in Science work to the class. We spoke about the important work of Marie Curie, Alexander Fleming, Louis Pasteur, Rosalind Franklin, Edward Jenner.
Our visit to the Newton Rooms in Caol. We had a full day workshop on Health Science.
