Weber was an all-state quarterback for the Tigers. A threat to both run and pass, Weber led the Tigers to within a point of the state championship in the Big Ten title game with North Platte. He was captain of a conference and district championship basketball squad. In track he was a standout hurdler and weight man, winning the state discus gold medal as a senior. He was a two-time letter winner in football at Nebraska.
