Tiger athletes have been honored by the state's leading newspapers and other media for as long as such honors have existed. In 1911, Tiger basketball captain Paul Schissler was chosen as all-state basketball. Schissler would go on to coach at the high school, college and professional level. Hastings High would continue to have individuals honored, as over one hundred Tigers have earned all-state recognition.
