Brandt led the Tigers to two straight state tournaments and the 1992 Class A championship game. He scored 657 points and grabbed 350 rebounds in his three year career, averaging 18 and 10 as a senior. He was an all-conference safety for the HHS football squad and a state meet qualifier in track. He played basketball at Baylor University and was a three-time Academic All-American as a pre-med major. He averaged double-figures as a senior and led the Bears to 18 wins as they entered the Big XII conference. He finished his Baylor career as the school’s all-time leader in games played, and in the top ten all-time in scoring (7th) and rebounding (6th). He signed a free agent contract with the NBA’s Houston Rockets and played professionally in the Continental Basketball Association, and in French and Italian Leagues.
