The Tigers, led by legendary Coach Earl Applebee, defeated Omaha Benson 67-52 in the state title game. All-staters Cal Johnson and John Swanson led the way as HHS rolled to the title with eight straight wins, all by nine points or more. They also crushed Alliance 70-56 to win the Big Ten Conference title and were undefeated at home during their 18-3 season.
