“Emma Alexander graduated from Hudson Falls High School in 2015. From there she went to St. Lawrence University where she got her bachelor in Physics and Mathematics and became a McNair Scholar. She spent a summer doing Research at SUNY Geneseo as a participant in the NSF REU (National Science Foundation Research Experience for Undergraduates) program. Upon graduation from St. Lawrence University, Emma enrolled in the physics graduate program at Texas Christian University (TCU) where she began her research under Dr. Zygmunt and Dr. Ignacy Gryczynski. The research at TCU focused on Spectroscopy and Fluorescence and Time-Resolved Spectroscopy. Throughout her research career at TCU Emma published over 20 papers and participated in many research projects with collaborators across the globe. Emma also participated and won awards sharing her work with the greater TCU and Texas community and was the graduate student representative when TCU hosted CUWiP (Conference for Undergraduate Women in Physics). In the Spring of 2024, Emma presented her thesis work on “Room Temperature Phosphorescence: Investigation Into External Perturbation Of Pva Film To Enhance Spin-Orbit Coupling” and earned her doctoral degree with a focus in Biophysics. Since graduating, Emma has begun work as a Patent Examiner with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).”
