Depression is a feeling of extreme sadness emptiness, and a large lack of energy. It can caused by numerous factors: poor nutrition, medical conditions, stress, drugs, genetics, etc. If you find yourself depressed there are several ways to help cure your depression: Writing in a journal can help you release stress, as can talking to someone. Another, more medical way to treat depression, is to take an antidepressant, these change the hormones in your body, reducing depression.(note: they can take up to 6 weeks to work.) One thing you should definitley do is to call the suicide prevention line. By calling them you can reduce you risk of death by suicide. If the cause is poor nutrition, eating balanced meals can help you with your depression.
Statistics: 5% of men and 9% of women suffer from depression each year. 40% of depression is caused by genetics.Women get depression twice as often as men.Suicide is the 3rd leading cause of death for people 15-29. 32.3% of students interviewed said they suffered from a mental health disorder.
Some signs of being depressed are being sad, irritable, and feeling empty. Having thoughts about death, or dying/commiting suicide. As well as feeling withdrawn from family or friends or having trouble paying attention in class or remembering what you learned.
5 things you should do are: Take an antidepressent. They can get rid of the hormones causing the depression. Write in a journal. This can relive stress and anxiety which may be causing your depression. One thing you should definetley do is call the suicide prevention line if you have thoughts about suicide. This can prevent you dying of suicide. You should also talk to people, this can have the same affect as writing in a journal, but its better, because they can have sympathy for you. You should also eat balanced meals because this can reduce poor nutrition, which might have been causing your depression.
