Healthcare careers are in high demand, particularly in rural northeastern North Carolina, offering stability, growth, and security. Recognizing the need for skilled healthcare professionals in our region, Hertford County Health Science Academy was established in partnership with ECU Health and Hertford County Public Schools. The Health Science Academy is dedicated to equipping students with the academic foundation, professionalism, and employability skills necessary to explore and succeed in various healthcare pathways.

The Hertford County Health Sciences Academy provides a rigorous educational program in collaboration with local strategic partners to prepare students for future success in healthcare professions.

Healer Spotlight: Kiana Faison

Meet Kiana Faison, a dedicated junior at Hertford County Early College who is already charting a remarkable path toward her future in healthcare! 💛✨

Kiana enjoys cheerleading, styling hair, and spending meaningful time with her family — the people who continue to inspire her drive and determination. 👨‍👩‍👧❤️

After graduation, Kiana plans to attend North Carolina A&T State University to earn her Bachelor of Science in Nursing, with dreams of becoming a NICU nurse. This calling is deeply personal: Kiana spent the first three months of her life in the NICU, and that experience fuels her passion to give back, care for others, and ensure every child has the chance to grow and discover the future waiting for them. 👶🏽🩺💙

Her commitment doesn’t stop there. Kiana also plans to pursue her Master of Science in Nursing to continue expanding her knowledge and impact within the healthcare field — a field that captured her heart when she was just six years old. 🌱📚
