About Us

ALTV is a nationally recognized student-run video production program at Armand Larive* Middle School in Hermiston, Oregon. The program has received numerous recognitions during the decade, including eight recognitions in the 2025-26 school year alone.

As an affiliate of the Student Television Network, ALTV is a two-time recipient of STN's 2023 and 2025 Distinguished Merit Award and the 2022 Broadcast Excellence Award. ALTV is also a member of the National Scholastic Press Association (NSPA), the Journalism Education Association (JEA) and the Oregon JEA. 

The original ALTV began in 1997 as a live weekly announcements program on closed circuit television. Internet programming started in 2012. Today ALTV produces the following programs:

• ALTV News aka "The Monthly Show" (feature reports and stories approximately once per month)

• Morning Announcements (live school announcements and a weather forecast once a week)

• Livestreamed or videotaped events (ALMS sports, awards assemblies, special events, AAU championship basketball)
