What is Dual Enrollment?
The purpose of the Dual Enrollment program is to promote and increase access to postsecondary educational opportunities for Georgia high school students. Students take college coursework while still enrolled in high school and those credits go on both a college transcript and a high school transcript.
Georgia has TWO Dual Enrollment programs available!
Traditional Dual Enrollment – this program is designed for the student who is planning to attend a four year college after high school and will graduate by meeting all the typical high school graduation requirements in Georgia.
Accelerated Career Diploma – this program is designed for the student who is planning to attend a technical college or go straight into the workforce after graduating. These students take fewer high school courses but also earn credentials at a technical college to meet graduation requirements!

Counseling Class Lessons
Throughout the school year counselors are facilitating classroom lessons using the Naviance/Henry Futures platform. This platform allows students to explore and begin creating post-secondary plans. Counselors guide students through different tasks and activities in each grade level where students learn information about colleges, careers, and overall life readiness skills. Students can access Naviance/Henry Futures from their school chromebook at any time for further exploration! Ask your student to share with you which careers they have saved on their Favorites List!
Volunteers Needed:
8th Grade Career Day 2025
If you would like to volunteer to be a speaker at our annual Career Day on the morning of Friday, March 14, 2025, please use the link below to complete a short survey! We will share additional details and follow up with you using the contact information you provide on the survey.
By sharing information about your job/career, you will assist in exposing our students to a variety of career pathways and options! Students will be inspired to continue to consider their post-secondary plans for college, career, and overall life readiness! Through this experience, students will also be able to see first-hand how school connects to the world of work while exploring the many possibilities for success in their futures!
Thank you so much for your help in making Ola Middle School a great place to learn!
If you are interested in volunteering to be a speaker please CLICK HERE to complete the Career Day Speaker Interest Survey!
Reading is important here at OMS and we thank you parents for supporting reading with your student!
Students should log any reading they do in the Beanstack app. Parents can learn how to use Beanstack here. We have prizes every month for our top readers and we will have a reader celebration coming up soon for those students who reach 1800 minutes from August 1-December 15. Our next goal is for students to read 1800 minutes between January 1-May 1.
All students will soon be reading a book together in their IF class. Each grade level is reading the same book and they are reading about 10 minutes a day. 6th Grade is reading The Lightning Thief, 7th Grade is reading Hidden Figures, and 8th Grade is reading The Wild Robot. Make sure to ask your student about the book they are reading. Thank you for your support as we work as a team to promote literacy with our students.
Welcome back to school and to 2025! I can share resources with both parents and students about grades, time management, organizational tips and staying on track for school. Encourage your student to clean out backpacks and binders and start this semester organized! Please feel free to reach out by phone or email if you have any concerns.

Please encourage your student to use an agenda or other way to track their daily tasks. Checking Infinite Campus weekly for grades as well as missing work is always a good practice. Reach out to the teacher if you have any questions or concerns about a specific grade or class.
A Honor Roll: students who have an A in all classes
A/B Honor Roll: students who have all A’s and B’s in all classes
B Honor Roll: students who have a B in all classes
Mustang Award: students who have shown maximum effort throughout the year---based on teacher’s discretion
Grades will be calculated for the awards at the 4.5 week posting for Term 2 and Term 4. *All reports will be run by the counselors.
Each semester an awards program will be held for semester recognition based on grades at the 4.5 progress report during the 2nd and 4th nine weeks (See School Calendar).
