1. What is the Total Rewards Statement?
The HCS Total Rewards Statement is a personal statement communicating the overall value of your compensation package. The statement highlights monetary compensation, employer contributions to benefits, and other non-monetary compensation you may receive.
2. When will I receive a Total Rewards Statement?
HR will email statements during the assigned week based on your days worked.
Mid July: 244, 220 (new hire)
Early August: 220; All other new hires
Early September: 178, 183, 185, 188, 190, 200, 205, 210
3. How do I determine my step if paid on the Administrative Salary Schedule?
For experience as an Assistant Principal OR in a non-educational administrative supervisory role in relation to the HCS role, half year (.5) of experience for one full year of experience is credited. For experience as a Principal OR District County Office Administration, year for year of experience is credited.
4. My years with TRS is greater than my contract/step. Why is there a difference?
Retirement years and contract/step are determined differently. For certified employees, contract/step is determined by the state’s guidelines as defined in the GADOE 160-5-2-.05 Experience for Salary Purposes. Retirement years are determined by a formula based on total years of service and contributions to the plan. Contact retirement administrator to determine years for retirement purposes.
6. I am a new employee and my verifications are still pending from other school districts. How will this affect my pay? How do I know if all of my former employers have returned verifications?
For new hires with start dates between July 1st and August 31st, verification of previous experience that is received by HCS Human Resources prior to September 30th of each year will be effective the date of hire and a retroactive payment maybe warranted. If experience is received by HCS Human Resources after September 30th, experience will be effective the date the verification form is received in HR and no retroactive payment is warranted. Please note: It is the employees’ responsibility to obtain correct and completed employment verification forms from your previous employer for salary credit.
For new hires with start dates between September 1st and June 3oth, verification of previous experience that is received by HCS Human Resources within thirty (30) business days of the date of hire will be effective the date of hire. If experience is received after 30 business days of the date of hire, experience will be effective the date the verification form is received in HR and no retroactive payment is warranted.

7. I was told that I did not receive service credit for a previous school year when I was hired in December of that school year. How is this determined?
As per state rule, to receive credit, you must work a minimum of 63% of the defined workdays to receive credit.
8. I am a current employee and my salary step is inaccurate. What is the process to request a review of my service record on file in HR?
Please submit an HR Inquiry form to request a summary of your documented years on file. Please note: It could take-up to 2 weeks to process this request due to high peak season.
