In order to be placed on the Certified Teacher salary schedule, one must have a valid professional certificate that has been issued by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission.
1. My certificate is expired. How can it be reinstated?
If your certificate expired within the last three years, you should log into your MyPSC account and answer your personal affirmation questions to update your information. After updating, you'll need to email Erin Lopez so she can request the reinstatement of your certificate.
If you haven't been teaching for more than three years, you might be eligible for a 1-year professional certificate. After the one-year period, you can submit a request to have your certificate reinstated. This process allows you to maintain your certification status even after a period of absence from teaching.
2. I have a teaching certificate in another state. How do I get it issued in Georgia?
Please email Erin Lopez with the below listed documentation:
Copy of your teaching certificate from another state
Content test scores (e.g.: Praxis, GACE, etc.)
GACE Ethics Assessment (Can be exempt with 3 years of experience)
If you have 3 or more years of certified experience, have your previous district verify this by using the GaPSC Experience Verification form

3. What should I do if my certificate type is correct but my level is wrong?
If you have a certificate issued by the Professional Standards Commission (PSC), Henry County Schools will use the certification level specified on that certificate. If the level stated on your certificate is incorrect for your position or role within the school system, you'll need to apply for an upgrade to ensure that you have the appropriate certification level
4. How do I apply for an upgrade at the PSC?
First, log into your MyPSC account and complete your personal affirmation questions. Next, have an official transcript issued directly to mail@gapsc.com. Finally, contact Erin Lopez to request the upgrade.
5. What do the different certificate types mean?
SRT: Standard Renewal Teaching Certificate
I5T: Induction Certification - this is the first standard renewal issued.
These are both professional teaching certificates, that are issued by the PSC.
6. I completed a certification program. How do I apply for my certificate?
First, have official transcripts sent directly to mail@gapsc.com. Log into your MyPSC account and answer your personal affirmation questions. Reach out to your certification program and have them submit a program completion to the GaPSC. Then email Erin Lopez and ask her to submit the request for your professional certificate.
