College Application Tools

Common App is an online platform for students to apply to colleges and universities worldwide. 

It allows students to submit one application to multiple institutions, streamlining the college application process.

Click the link below to create an account, be sure to use a personal email address.

1. Once the account has been created, student's will need to complete their profiles. 

*If you qualify for a fee waiver, you will need to indicate that you qualify for a fee waiver on your profile. 

In order to qualify for a fee waver, you must receive free or reduced lunch.

2. After you have completed your profile, you will need to add at least one college to your "My Colleges" section to complete your profile.

*Students can add and apply to a maximum of 20 colleges. Once an application has been submitted, it cannot be removed from the "My Colleges" list.

3. After you have added a college, you will need to complete the "Recommenders and FERPA section."  

FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) is a federal law that protects the privacy of student education records. 

By signing the release, you grant your school permission to share records like your transcripts and letters of recommendation with the colleges that you are applying to.

Naviance is a college and career readiness platform to help students explore their interests, plan for their future, prepare for college and career, search scholarships, search colleges and complete applications in conjunction with Common App. 

In order to complete your application from Common App, your Common App account and Naviance account must link.

Instructions for Accessing Naviance:

From classlink, search Naviance from your search bar

Instructions for linking your accounts:

1. Log in to Naviance from Classlink

2. Click on the "Colleges I'm Applying To" located across the navigation bar

3. Click "Match Accounts"

You will be directed to common app and will need to log in with your common app credentials.

You will be asked to authorize Naviance to access your Common App account

Confirm the match

Once authorized, you will be directed back to Naviance and you will see a confirmation message of a message that indicates that the accounts were linked successfully.

You can check to see if the colleges that you've added to Common App are listed in Naviance.

From here, your counselor will be able to send your transcripts, submit letters of recommendation and verify if you qualify for an application waiver.

Common Black App is a network of Historically Black Colleges and Universities

You can apply to over 50 HBCU's using Common Black App for one fee.

You will select your top 4 colleges but all member colleges will have access to your application

Contact the Member institutions outside of your top 4 that you are also interested in attending by phone or email
