10th Grade Focus
✔️Academics:
You have already started your college application portfolio with your transcript and have established some habits and routines.
Remember that all of your grades from 9th grade to 12th grade will appear on your transcript and your transcript is one of the most important documents in your application.
If you have not already established good study habits, time management or organization skills, you can work to improve that this year.
Consider AP classes this year that you are the strongest in academically.
Think about Dual Enrollment classes you may want to take next year.
These classes can help you develop these essential skills, prepare you for college rigor, boost you GPA and potentially allow you to earn college credit.
✔️Tests:
10th Graders have the option to take the PSAT/NMSQT. The PSAT/NMSQT (National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test) prepares students for the SAT and serves as practice for students who wish to test again in 11th grade to potentially qualify for the National Merit Scholarship.

Maybe you have tried some activities or clubs but haven't quite found your thing. It's okay to try something different this year.
Stay involved and work towards finding something that you enjoy or feel passionate about.
If you have already found your thing, consider moving into a leadership position next year.
Apply for Youth Leadership Henry (an exclusive program for 10th graders) see your counselor for more information.
Applications are due before the end of August.
✔️College Information
Consider scheduling local college tours with your family, it's never too early to start thinking about college.
College tours help you get a sense of what college is like.
Some colleges also offer virtual college tours with interactive maps.
