Over the past 17 years of experience in Henrico County Public Schools, I have consistently sought out ways to improve my teaching craft, instructional coaching, and leadership skills. In my seven years in the classroom, teaching in a collaborative setting and participation in the VCU/ESL cohort helped me design instruction to meet the needs of all learners. My master's program was accomplished as part of a cohort of Henrico County teachers and ITRTs working with the Teaching Innovation Progression Chart as our focus. This focus allowed me to explore the critical skills and attributes needed for students to thrive in a changing global economy. Serving as a grade level chair and then leading as an ITRT afforded me the opportunities to support county level specialists, content department chairs, and individual teachers/coaches growing my skills as a professional developer and instructional coach. In my role as a division coordinator and then specialist for STEAM, I developed a vision for STEAM in our middle schools, collaborating with curriculum specialists and school leadership on new curriculum, as well as wrote and maintained our division's Title IV grant. My current experience as an Educational Specialist for Secondary Innovation has reinforced the important role technology plays in teaching and learning and the need for developing staff and students to become global digital citizens. Together, these experiences have given me the knowledge and skill to support the 49,000 strong diverse group of students and 4,000 staff to find success in teaching and learning. Attendance and presentations at national and regional professional conferences, joining advocacy groups like GRAETC AND VSTE, as well as participation in county level projects such as our HPE curriculum STEAM in Sports and the MS STEAM Symposium, has further developed my leadership strengths, communication abilities, and organizational skills.
